Bon Voyage, Jupiter.

Jupiter in Sagittarius 2018 – 2019

Jupiter is in the final stage of its gallop through Sagittarius. It has reached the peak. From this standpoint it can envision the road ahead into Capricorn, equipped with the wisdom gained while travelling through the wide terrain of Sagittarius.

Jupiter is classified as a benefic, enhancing whatever it touches. This past year however, it was sometimes difficult to understand the beneficence when Saturn & Pluto over shadowed everything in cranky Capricorn. Thank f*ck Jupiter was in Sag because it took the edge off some of the tension & allowed us to envision the world we want to create when we reach the other side.

Jupiter has been in Sag since Nov 2018. Reflecting back on what this last year has granted you, where did you have growth & learning, travel & expansion that now allows you to view the world through a broader, more encompassing lens, & how did you access optimism through trying times? All of this can be attributed to Jupiter. Now, as the energy calms, how will you gather up those resources and utilise them in a more practical way?

On Dec 2nd, Jupiter will slow down the pace & trot into Capricorn until Dec 2020. It will be an interesting year, to say the least. Capricorn is not an easy, happy go lucky energy, & with both Saturn & Pluto already there, Jupiter won’t be as effective with lifting the mood as it has been in Sag. It’ll be a year to dig deep & utilise those personal resources on the ground in the day to day grind. We’ll all be challenged to mature our relationship to power & to untangle the voices of fear and limitation that keep us bound.

Write yourself a note from this 29* Sagittarius vantage point that you can rely on through the coming year. If you offer Capricorn a tool it’ll learn how to use it…so give yourself your best.

Stay tender. Stay true.

This Rx cycle began with Mercury & Venus conjoined, bonded deep in it, having both travelled through most of Scorpio’s terrain together. While Venus has since moved on to greener, more abundant Sagittarian pastures, Mercury will remain in Scorpio for the duration of this Rx. Not crossing any borders into another signs terrain, the energy is contained…for the most part.

The forces that propell Scorpio, fuelling its intensity, desires and no-bullshit death stare honesty are derived from Mars; forceful and brash in its quest with the potential of being passionately barbaric, Mars spearheads whatever it desires. Whether it’s food, another lover or bloody revenge, it attacks with piercing exactness whatever sign it’s in.

Until Nov 18th however, Mars is stuck at a dinner party (in Libra), schmoozing and boozing, forced to be cordial & polite. It’s an uncomfortable place for Mars to be, but it takes the compliments in its stride, charming the pants off new and old enemies: kill them with kindness is the current battle strategy. If anything challenging or provoking arises, Mars has no sword, no army & no defence but to smile & find places of common ground, which is hella frustrating for Mercury on the front lines.

When Mercury calls, distressed and overwhelmed with feelings from the unease of Scopionic waters, Mars doesn’t receive because there’s no service. Mercury is hurtling backwards (retrograde) down into the Underworld with no one at the wheel!

Mercury Rx cycles often throw us for a loop. It’s so close & personal. The cracks that have formed from pressure over time are exposed in relationships & connections, in deals & agreements. Collectively, we are on the streets screaming for our lives, for justice, while peace talks go on behind closed doors, disconnected from the conversation on the ground.

Mercury is feeling the tender rawness of being cut off, exiled & not being heard. What could be worse for the planet of communication than sending & no one receiving? It’s reduced to tears of frustration at the injustice of it all.

If your thoughts are leading you to dead ends, if you’re sending & the other person is not receiving….that’s unfortunately what this time is about. These initial first days of the cycle are the worst in that there’s so much to adjust to. Mercury has literally done a 180 & it’s discombobulating AF.

Mercury will go forward again but for now we’re retracing our steps, gathering information & feeling the depths of our pains & losses while not ignoring the intensity that is contained in the stories. Old narratives arise indicating where we are still healing & where we need to take care to protect open wounds.

In the coming days I’ll unpack each rising sign so we can see where exactly our energy is being called back to.

Stay tender, stay true.

What’s on the table?

Oct 31, 2019

The image of Mercury digging in its heels is as awkward as it feels. It’s time to stop. Reassess. The wings are grounded and there is no flight. Any lofty ideals crash to earth for a reality check and the more you push the harder it becomes.

Mercury is aligned with the Greek God Hermes; equipped with winged heels that enable swift movements and slippery deals. A psychopomp, Hermes is the guide who leads you down to the Underworld for death and renewal, be it removing the facade of mortality in facing your own death or that of someone you love, or by moving through difficulties that push you through to a new way of being.

Why now? Total Solar Eclipse emerges 119 later.

As if Solar Eclipses aren’t magical enough on their own!

This footage of a Solar Eclipse that occurred across North Carolina, USA on May 28, 1900 is the first known eclipse to be filmed. It has just been released to the public with some pretty auspicious timing.

A Solar Eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are in the same zodiacal sign and also occupy the same terrain in the sky as viewed from Earth. This particular eclipse occurred when both the Sun and Moon were in Gemini which happens to be the exact same New Moon that is occurring as it’s re-released!

While Astrology and Astronomy were once synonymous, many in the science fields today attempt to maintain distance from Astrology, yet this film has been held in The Royal Astronomical Society’s archive for 119 years and they no doubt did not intend to time its release to impress astrologers! So, what brought it out?

Filmed by magician Nevil Maskelyne and reworked by the British Film Institute, it’s an amazing view back in time. Watching an old eclipse is like looking at photos of our great-great-grandparents. Every eclipse is part of a larger cycle, or family, that produces an eclipse every 18 years. These families, like yours, have certain traits and characteristics that re-emerge with each eclipse until the family fades out some 1300 years later. That’s a lot of generations carrying one continuous thread.

In her work on these eclipse families, called Saros Cycles, Bernadette Brady says of this particular eclipse:

May 28, 1900: 10 South at 7* Gemini

This Saros Series concerns itself with breaking out of a very negative situation where no hope can be seen to a more positive space containing many options. A worry that may have been affecting a person will suddenly clear. The solution is shown by the Cosmos and needs to be taken up without too much delay. ~ The Eagle and the Lark, p323

There are various points of connection with this films release that pose many questions, principally “Why now?” If each eclipse family has a particular energy and message why, when the state of the world is pretty dire, are we again witnessing this eclipse? What brought this Gemini New Moon back into our consciousness 119 years later on yet another Gemini New Moon?

It’s possible to google the Great American Eclipse and view it from hundreds of viewpoints, but film was only emerging in the 1890’s, and if Nevil was alive today he’d likely be taking refuge in an embassy in London for his public service hacking: He was a public detractor of Guglielmo Marconi in the early days of radio (wireless). In 1903 he hacked into Marconi’s demonstration of wireless telegraphy, and broadcast his own message, hoping to make Marconi’s claims of “secure and private communication” appear foolish. ~ Wikipedia

Not only is this amazing to watch but the synchronicity of its release date coupled with the theme of the eclipse family and Nevil’s trickster ways are timely in this Gemini Season.

Venus Rx in Scorpio

Look around to see what is dead or dying. The Venus Retrograde cycle is no joke, and Scorpio does not suffer fools.

Screen Shot 2018-10-14 at 3.00.14 PM

The Venus Rx cycle is a 40 day – 40 night dark night of the soul journey. It’s a fasting and a detox of our values, our relationships, the people and places we’ve poured our love and money and support into…and the stench of death and decay is wafting through.

What once brought us joy, vitality and purpose may now be a shell of its former self. We may also find, if we care to have that honest, penetrating look at ourselves, that we’ve outgrown parts of ourselves and moved on, but the situation remains; the vase is still holding up the dead flowers, but no amount of water is going to breathe life back into them.

Encompassed in this current Rx cycle is Neptune at the midpoint of its journey through Pisces, and Uranus at the midpoint of the Nodes. Midpoints are a peak of energy where we can look both back and forth; familiar enough with the energy at this stage that we know the pattern, but also aware that maturity beckons in our choices.
