It’s the Leo Full Moon today & it’s no surprise that this image of the mf Sun was beamed to us this past week!
This is the Sun! The life giving ball of fire we roam around every year. The source of our vitality & nutrients, indiscriminately shining upon us, through us, showing us the Leo way . Our Sun is a teeny-tiny 4.6 billion years old, with an approximate 10 billion year life span. NBD.
I do find @nasa & our current “science is top of the hierarchy of knowledge” era we’re living through laughable when they say this is the first time we’ve seen the Sun this close. Is it really? How did people know of binary stars in other galaxies before we had telescopes?
Also, if you’re wearing gold (the metal associated with Leo ) remember it was formed in a supernova ~ when a Sun is expiring in brilliance ~ & that you’re closer to the Sun than you may think.
Full Moons always bring up relationship dynamics so double check to make sure the one/ones you’re looking at see/s you & appreciate/s you for the shining Sun you are. Don’t be dazzled by fakes & those who want to dim your light! You’re worth being the centre of your own Solar System.
If it’s feeling intense right now, it means you’re listening. But you’re also not alone.
If there was only one major transit this year ~ the Saturn Pluto conjunction occurring in January ~ we could say that the start of the year is intense but after it passes you can breathe out and get back to your life. Without wanting to play on already existing fears, it’s important we shift our view from a minor obstacle we can work through – to understanding that January is a precursor for what this year, and the future, holds. Collectively we’ve created an apocalyptic narrative that begins and ends, not one that we have to endure, slowly.
The current systems of power we’re governed by have been reigning supreme for longer than any of us have been alive. They’re not going down without a fight, which is why we’re seeing extreme responses of control, fear mongering and defence, both globally as well as personally.
If Capricorn is good at anything it’s the long-haul. Take stock of where you’re feeling vulnerable, what is potentially threatening your pocket of security in the world, and who and what holds deepest value to you. Solidarity and community connections will be our life blood when these power structures buckle under pressure.
There’s been an influx of Yoda memes ever since Jupiter moved into Capricorn, not surprising, really . Yoda is the perfect archetype to show up since we now have 4 planets & a node all getting down to business in Cap…& further shows that you don’t have to ‘believe’ in astrology to be influenced by it 🤷🏼♂️
Saturn, Capricorn’s daddy, represents wisdom & ageing, maturation & growth, & the responsibility weaved within the journey. It stands for nothing less than dedication & hard work…all of which take time. Time. It’s our elder, Saturn, whose been there a million times before reminding us as we transition into a new paradigm that you can’t hurry a good thing.
Being the boundary line of our known world it’s faaaaaar out in the solar system, and often the rewards come from time alone, pushing the limits we’ve imposed on ourselves & shedding the aspects of self we’ve outgrown.
Channel your inner Yoda through the upcoming eclipse season, aiming for any difficulties to be transformed to wisdom you can share with others on the path. I like to read stories about people on their death bed, what they regretted & what they cherish, to get clear with Saturn
Anyone else feel like they finally understand what it’s like to be a Scorpio 24/7? This Mercury retrograde in Scorpio (leading us toward the Pluto-Saturn conjunction in January😳) is Scorpio Season on full blast! Whoooooweeee!
The effects might not be visible on the periphery, but so much is stirring inside, below the surface.
It’s not ‘normal’ for us to be existing with constant grief, over stimulation & anxiety, & no one is spared right now. Mercury retrograde cycles are great opportunities for us to go off line, spending less time in the loop of scrolling & more time listening to what’s asking for our attention.
Mercury rules communication, & listening is just as valid as output. Listen to your body, chew your food, watch your breathing & trust those who love you that can see your blind spots. Boundaries are there for self care!
Mercury Retrograde cycles coincide with large numbers of people going offline for a short term reset-detox. It makes sense considering Mercury is the messenger of the cosmos, retrograde periods call us to review, revisit, reset and technology pervades most aspects of daily life.
October 30th, 2019 Mercury digs in its heels and stations at the 28th degree of Scorpio, or the 238th degree of the Zodiac. It will retrograde back to the 12th degree of Scorpio on November 19th. That’s 20 days for you to detox, to call back your inspiration, assess any unhealthy patterns and reset boundaries. The Phoenix you choose to rise as depends on how deep you want to go. It’s your call and you are your only judge.
For the duration of this Mercury Retrograde period I’ll be here offering Merc Perk detox tips, decoding the messages from the Cosmos and watching how the planetary configurations play out on the world stage. It’s a process of slowing down, being present, re-empowering ourselves and consciously composting what needs to be released.
After leaving San Francisco yesterday we headed for the Redwoods in Northern California. I chose this spot and this date purposefully knowing Mercury would be Rx, knowing that it’s Samhain and knowing I need to be in nature at this time of year, every year.
Standing at the foot of these literal giants I fell silent; there’s nothing that could be said to enhance the moment and words would only get in the way of listening. Impressed by how spongey the Earth is underfoot, able to hold up all 350 ft of solid tree, I take in more of the surroundings as the forest begins to open up. Lying horizontal are several giants. No longer upright, yet no less participating, present and necessary. No less breathtaking.
I’m reminded of The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. In it he describes the importance of dead trees to the ongoing sustainability of a forest. No longer vertical, trees still share energy and nutrients with each other, operating much like a family reliant on one another for survival.
Scorpio has in recent history become associated with death and transformation, due mainly to its also modern association with Pluto. But the natural progression of life’s cycle at this time of year does reflect this nocturnal, dying off and transforming phase (in the Northern Hemisphere where Western Astrology originated). Once Libra sets us straight with equal parts day and night, Scorpio Season alerts us to the irreversible descent from Autumn into the cold, dark depths of Winter. The reality of hibernation and retreat is undeniable.
If you can picture yourself as a tree, heavy with golden-red leaves, branches stretching wide having held nests, birds, moss and sunlight, with roots steadfast and deep as the branches rise…..what does this encroaching Winter hold for you? Will you drop a branch or two as the weight of an old story becomes too much to carry forth? How will the leaves that you have grown nourish you as they fall to your feet? How well has your bark protected you in the form of setting and upholding boundaries? Will you do next year differently, wishing you’d been clearer about how much energy you put out, or who you offered shade and shelter to, who you wish had found sanctuary in your forest? What will you mourn and what will you rejoice in the inevitable loss of?

50 years ago today we (speculatively) sent 3 humans to the Moon. Wether you ‘believe’ it happened or not, something significant unfolded: we saw ourselves for the 1st time from a distance, living on a rock hanging in space. It’s impossible for human consciousness to not shift fundamentally from this point onward. #whatisthemeaningoflife
It’s interesting that this 50th anniversary occurs on a Lunar Eclipse! From the view of this image (taken by the Apollo 11 crew) the Moon is between the Earth & the Sun. These 3 celestial bodies that we rely on indefinitely ~ the Sun, the Moon & the Earth ~ all dance a dance, around & with each other, casting shadows, reflecting light & inspiring wonder. On & on.
I know a lot of folx are having hard things come up in this shadow time ~ ahoy to those who are riding high!
Eclipses stir the pot. They disturb the sediment. It has been an intense week/month/year #lezbereal .Eclipse season can bring up what we haven’t wanted to look at, distilling its poison, revealing the shadow.
Letting go occurs in so many ways & phases. It’s ok to wait for the light to return. It’s ok to have distance for perspective & detach from the stories. Remember that your feet are on the Earth & that staying grounded – or holding your ground – is part of finding your way.
These eclipses are stirring so much, from so deep. With Mercury coming to a blazing halt in Leo, preparing itself for a retrograde rendezvous (July 8-31), the air is thick & electric.
It’s a lot.
The gift amongst the chaos is in the messages, but the ‘answers’ we’ve become so accustomed to look for are not in the same shape we’re familiar with. So much has changed.
These eclipse #mercperks are nudging us toward realignment with who we are NOW. Not based in the past, not based in what once gave us security, based in what has been revealed to us about ourselves, about family, identity, ancestry & power.
It’s. A. Lot.
If you can ~ swim in the ocean, have a salt bath, scrub off dead skin, get a hair cut, throw out old clothes. Whatever wants to unshackle, let it go & offer space for the new to arise, again & again….
