Uranus in Taurus

IMG_3279

Although I haven’t watched it, the “does it spark joy?” question has filtered through. Like anyone listening to these Uranus in Taurus messages, I’m getting down, closer, to that which calls me, holds value & needs to go.

Where ever Taurus lands in your chart, you understand the desire to build roots, have comfort & long lasting material security. Uranus though, has other ideas & is forcing us to renegotiate our relationship to such things.

Taurus wants to possess, hoard & maintain; allow slow change over a long period of time. Uranus wants to disrupt the status quo, abruptly freeing us from that which inhibits. Trying to control something so dynamic in a fixed capacity can only lead to a shuddering of secure foundations.

Being a conduit means you allow things to pass through. Like powerlines transmitting electricity, the cables & the electricity are not one and the same, nor are they’re trying to be. Taurus is the container for the energy of Uranus over the next 7 years; challenging our ideas of what ‘enough’ is, forcing us to identify that which truly brings us joy based on what we value & not relying on what worked in the past. #freshandnew

To be surrounded by less distractions, both inside & out, requires leaning in to trust in a more acute way.

This trip home has walked me down so many memory lanes with friends, places, food & my eternal love: motorbikes! The fact that you physically can’t carry much stuff, that the wind washes you clean of anything stuck, that it’s you (& possibly one other) & the potential offered in an open road. Need I say more?!

This Uranus transit initiated itself last May. It’s underway, & will switch gears again on the next New Moon in Pisces. For those strongly rooted in their Taurean ways, I hope you can find your conduit shape so that you can be lead by the sparks that are illuminating your road forward. If personal earthquakes rumble & you’re aware of a need to control, right there is your diamond mine. Taurus is not interested in scratching the surface, we need to dig a lot deeper. Shedding the material has a deep emotional & spiritual component, too. Don’t deny yourself.

The road is open & all maps are out the window. Where will you go with such freedom?

Shout out to Sullo for lending me her bike & to Jessika Fancy for being numero uno co-pilot.

*Map of Aboriginal Australia can be purchased here

We’ve established that genocide is not something to be celebrated, that housing insecurity sabotages our ability to function to our fullest potential & that generational trauma is passed on irrespective of physical changes; location, $, class, privilege etc.

& yet we still have space in Australian society for a national holiday that upholds these basic principals, & more. We’re still governed by that same violent mentality that sought to conquer, eliminate & deny the very existence of Aboriginal people, their cultures & spirituality, that lived on & with this land for thousands of years. Thousands.

One historical difference in the colonisation of Australia & Nth America is that the specifics of conflict, dispossession & betrayal were barely recorded in visual form in Australia. Where we can find photographs & sketches of the Civil War in the US, there is hardly any visual representation of the truth in Australia, & blatant fabrication of the truth in written form. This has contributed to problematic misconceptions that a) no one was here when Captain Cook arrived b) Aboriginal people did not fight back, unlike Maori people c) the British came in peace. .

Looking at this map v’s the British division (where someone got a ruler & divided it up into what we know as Australia today), is a good reminder for us white fellas that colonisation enforces straight lines, a strict rule of thumb via assimilation, & continual erasure. Straight lines don’t occur in nature. Decolonisation requires us to think beyond the rules & mentality we’ve been indoctrinated into, to listen & soften our edges.

Today & everyday I stand in solidarity with the traditional custodians of this land, & continue to seek understanding of the ways in which my presence, my whiteness, my ignorance continue to reinforce this violence.

The last of the Leo – Aquarius eclipses

Driving into the heart of this continent is nothing short of Epic. A 5 day drive that my Sagittarian feet would far prefer to walk, but are not genetically designed to do, took us from the waves lapping at the ocean shore to the fossilised rock that is the ancient sea bed. I love the desert for so many reasons; the silence, the expanse, the space, the lack of distraction that initiates an acute awareness, the lack of water simultaneously present with its tangible memory. It’s impossible to hide from yourself because you are constantly reflected everywhere.

Uluru holds great cultural & spiritual significance to the Anangu people. It extends some 6000m below ground & towers 343m above us. It’s truly immense, awe inspiring & it feels like a giant crystal pulsating magnificence. I’m so deeply grateful to be here.

We arrived at the heart of this continent on the Leo Full Moon, the sign that rules the heart, on an eclipse that acts as a bridge. The Full Moon is technically in Leo, but eclipses are defined by the Nodes of the Moon, & those Nodes are well & truly dancing along the Cancer / Capricorn axis.

This bridge is an important one. As we hurtle along into 2019, we’re building toward a critical time that will peak in 2020. The unfolding that occurs will redefine how we understand security, home, connection & the ongoing impacts of our capitalistic cis-het-patriarchal white supremist ways. This final eclipse in Leo is a reminder to sink deeper into our hearts, to not indulge the mind & fear as much as we can compassion & renegotiation.

This intensity that buiilding has me moving deeper into silence & listening. I hope for you all through this #fullmoon that you don’t deny your uniqueness, that it leads you deeper into your heart & that you carry this energy with you through the challenges that lie ahead.

Eclipse undertow

screen shot 2019-01-11 at 4.33.55 pm

The waves that are lapping at our feet right now carry the energy of the eclipse undertow. There’s a purging occurring from the inside out. There are no “little things” this week, they’re pointers to the larger issues lurking below the surface. Don’t look away, & don’t be fooled into thinking you need to control it all.

I know a lot of folks who are sick right now, or tired & depleted. Old energy is resurfacing, exposed into the conscious light of day to be purged. The eclipse this week was wedged between boss lady Saturn & break-down-to-break-through Pluto; we have to release before we can rebuild.

Take note of what you’re being drawn toward, & what you’re being challenged to leave behind – no matter how subtle. When the internet breaks & there’s no external validation…when the poles actually do shift & all you’ve got is what you’ve developed in yourself – what are THOSE things? What are you here to contribute?

We’re deepening our relationship to ourselves so that we inturn show up more authentically in the world. Project yourself forward & ask yourself what you wish you had done & see if it’s on your current to-do list. No connection or circumstance is random. Who you are & what you do now is part of an intricate web system that wants to support you; be conscious of the choices you make now because those seeds will grow.

Mars in Pisces; running in water

Screen Shot 2018-12-18 at 6.26.40 PM

Mars loves to run. 🏃🏼‍♂️
Pisces loves to swim. 🏊🏼‍♀️

When we combine these two energies, amongst the clusterfuck of everything else going on, we can feel like we’re going nowhere fast.

What running in water does do for us is allow mindfulness of the subtleties. It slows us down enough to hear what can be missed when blindly running toward our goals. It’s a reminder of who we take our orders from: external sources of trends, oppressive authorities or algorithms OR from our own innate knowing & wisdom.

If yr feeling frustrated, like yr lagging behind & cant keep up, stop trying. Find your flow & realign yourself because Mars will leap into Aries on Jan 1, & like a sling shot, we’ll be catapulted forward in the direction we’re facing.

What does your rhythm look like, without external influence?

Venus Rx in Scorpio

Look around to see what is dead or dying. The Venus Retrograde cycle is no joke, and Scorpio does not suffer fools.

Screen Shot 2018-10-14 at 3.00.14 PM

The Venus Rx cycle is a 40 day – 40 night dark night of the soul journey. It’s a fasting and a detox of our values, our relationships, the people and places we’ve poured our love and money and support into…and the stench of death and decay is wafting through.

What once brought us joy, vitality and purpose may now be a shell of its former self. We may also find, if we care to have that honest, penetrating look at ourselves, that we’ve outgrown parts of ourselves and moved on, but the situation remains; the vase is still holding up the dead flowers, but no amount of water is going to breathe life back into them.

Encompassed in this current Rx cycle is Neptune at the midpoint of its journey through Pisces, and Uranus at the midpoint of the Nodes. Midpoints are a peak of energy where we can look both back and forth; familiar enough with the energy at this stage that we know the pattern, but also aware that maturity beckons in our choices.

Mutable Magic – the changing of seasons

MUTABLE MAGIC

Screen Shot 2018-09-11 at 5.01.30 PM

The mutable signs ~ Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces ~ all represent the energy of the changing seasons.

There’s been an irritability in the air. Not of the Mars variety where we could blow our top. It’s based in the mutable energy of change that doesn’t let us settle.

Mutable signs remind us that change is necessary. Stagnation is not an option and remaining in the past lacks vitality. In such unpredictable and often volatile times, we seek the security of things unchanging. Change represents chaos, and chaos reminds us that we don’t have control. But chaos is from where life emerges. It’s the void that contains the all; where we come from and to where we all return.

Each Mutable sign follows a Fixed sign. The Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) represent the peak of a season. There is no denying in February that we’re in the depths of Winter in the Nth Hemisphere – and the height of Summer in the South.

Fixed energy is sure and stable. It’s the foundation stones upon which we build life. Mutable signs, however, transition us from this stability, simultaneously aware of what it’s emerging from and heading toward. Moving, changing, gathering information, mutability is never still, never stagnant. Always curious and of service.

Mutable signs gather the information we need to transition to the peak of our potential. They are the gate keepers to the Solstice and Equinox. They are the changing of the guard from one season to another. It is both receptive and dynamic.

A snake sheds its skin before it emerges anew. The energy of change can be uncomfortable because we can’t rest and we have no guarantee of what’s to come. We have to lean into trust and roll with the energy of now.

This particular mutable season is within the veil of a Venus Retrograde cycle. The energy of change is more potent because we’re being asked to look at what we’re going to leave behind in the Underworld. We will take a Phoenix journey down and through Scorpio’s lair. If you’re struggling against the winds of change right now, ask yourself what you’re holding onto and why. What is lingering from your past that’s draining your vitality?

There is endurance to mutable energy. It has the ability to adapt. To bend and not break. Take this tree wisdom with you though the Underwolrld. We’re all going together. No one is spared.
