29th degree

Any planet at the 29th degree of a sign is in treacherous terrain. Since Solstice, December 2017, Saturn has been trudging through each degree of Capricorn, its nocturnal base camp. It arrived this week at the final, 29th degree.

This 29th degree terrain is not unfamiliar to us. We were here in March when the WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic, and again in July when China imposed retroactive laws upon Hong Kong, Melbourne went into the worlds strictest quarantine and BLM protests continued internationally. It’s not an area of the zodiac known for peacemaking, tea parties and fan fare. It’s harsh and heavy with an undertow of austerity and consequence.

Saturn’s occupation of Capricorn for the past three years has been nothing short of arduous. Testing. Gruelling. We’ve witnessed the impact of dominant power structures valuing profit over people, highlighting the injustice of who is rewarded and who is left behind. Personally, we’ve all had to consider our own responsibility and contribution to this world we share, and how we can keep each other accountable.

Wherever Saturn roams it carries stories of inter-generational power struggles and resistance to insignificance. Underpinning Capricorn’s intense desire to push forth is fear. Fear of failure. Fear of being exposed as weak, unable, not capable. Vulnerability is Capricorn’s kryptonite. This combination, Saturn in Capricorn, has a distinctly different flavour than the Aquarius terrain we’re heading for.

Jupiter will join Saturn here on December 14th. Together they will close up not only this Capricorn chapter, but also a 200 year cycle that has had us focussed on the material plane of resources, wealth, possessions and land. In 2021, we’re moving into a new era. Don’t for a second think you just lived through all this for nothing. We are the ancestors future generations will look back on, wondering what we did at this great transition. Don’t waste it by denying yourself your unique part in this unfolding.

Jupiter and Saturn at 29* Capricorn, Dec 14th 2020

The final 29th degree portal holds both, the memories gathered and the potential of the new bursting into existence. The surrender and release that accompanies any completion are not as simple as curated IG posts will have you believe. They each take courage, accountability, humility, trust and unflinching honest self-reflection.

Saturn in Capricorn has planted seeds that will take years to mature. Years. This is the last time we’ll be here with Saturn at this degree until January 2050, when Jupiter will look on from 29* Cancer. We’ll be in a whole new world by then.

In today’s world however, endings and goodbye’s are like a ship on the distant horizon. We don’t say good bye like we used to, unsure if we’ll see each other again. We leave a city, a job, a country and see everyone next week on the socials or Zoom. We watch re-runs of our favourite shows and re-read text messages. We gaslight instead of leaning into the richness of hurts and apologies.

Endings are a window peering into the reality of no tomorrow. No next time. No second chances. There is only right now; a shared opportunity to gather everything from the past and make decided steps about the future. To take a leap of faith where fear tirelessly attempts to keep us bound in the mediocrity of sameness.

The past three years have the marks of growing pains embedded in them. If we weren’t wounded within them then we’re no doubt aware of the long lineage of ancestral trauma we’ve inherited. Scar tissue is tough because it’s been through trauma, but it doesn’t cover the entire body. It toughens to heal, to reconnect, to keep going, not to shield us from openness to the next thing. For us at this important juncture, at this 29th degree lookout, we can look back and see our choices not as mistakes or victories but as pivot points of growth and change.

We are in a phase of completing one thing so the next can emerge. While we can’t create or destroy energy, this moment, this opportunity, will never occur again. And there will never be another you. Avoiding the inevitability of endings creates a false narrative around loss. It creates a grasping of things that have long lived beyond their used by date. It’s our responsibility to acknowledge what we have outgrown. There is no weakness in asking for help. No personal loss in collaboration and sharing. On the contrary, that’s what the new era will encourage of us: Strength in our interdependence.

Change takes time but initially it requires a vision. As we close this chapter know that you have a blank page to draw upon, to create and shape the world for generations to come. We are aware of the past and the future is ours to write because of it.

The Astrology of Social Distancing 2020

Saturn is digging in its heels at the final degree of Capricorn. The last degree of any sign in the Zodiac is never easy terrain; the Anaretic, or Critical 29th degree, holds immense potency, intensification and stress. As Saturn goes through this chrysalis, the Capricorn dialogue of the recent past centring commerce, capitalism, billionaires, “the rich” now shifts toward the Aquarian narrative of life itself; togetherness, solidarity, community, being connected in isolation.

When Saturn ingressed into Capricorn on the Winter Solstice (Northern Hemisphere) 2017, its presence was felt immediately. Saturn descended with its heavy hand of stern realism and immediate lockdown. Remember the travel ban, the wild fires in Southern California, the Catalonian push for Independence and North Korea’s missile program?  Shit got real immediately.

Pisces Season: the path of least resistance

Click to image to watch the video. Video source: @beachcityco

It’s Pisces Season & Mercury is STILL retrograde! Do you feel like it’s been Rx for a while now…like forever…or at least since that Gemini Full Moon back in December?

Pisces loves the deep dive. The waters of emotion stir & we remember what gives us meaning, what moves us & what connects us. As our life-giving Sun edges closer & closer toward Neptune we’re made increasingly aware of the clash between our ideals, our dreams & visions ~ & the cold hard reality being dished up by the clusterfuck over in Capricorn.

We’re dealing with an invisible virus, injunctions & arrests are blurring the lines between sovereign territory & state legislation, a waaaay too long US Presidential election campaign blows in hope one day & defeat the next & Australia is running out of toilet paper…while we’re all trying to catch up with the grief we’re carting around day to day.

Thankfully, there’s a steady groove that can be found between Pisces & Capricorn along the path of least resistance.

Capricorn sets the goal posts, highlighting where reform needs to occur, which behaviours & habits & power structures we’ve outgrown… while Pisces urges us to ride the pressure of that rising wave to steer us forward. You can’t push shit up a hill, so wherever the momentum is coming from use it to guide you toward your ideal reality & watch for signposts for where change & growth need to occur.

We’re in this for the long haul. Utilise Mercury Retrograde to help you gauge when it’s time for a break & recuperation.

Cancer Full Moon eclipse 2020

Traditionally, eclipses have been ominous signs. They remind us of how little control we have. No amount of prayer, ritual or intention can stop the Earth passing between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on our closest neighbour.

As the earth moves betwixt two opposing forces, we edge deeper into the dance that has been unfolding since November 2018 when the Nodes moved into Cancer / Capricorn.  #cancercapricornclusterfuck

Since November 2018, we’ve seen a rise in Cancer / Capricorn themes: women in power have destabilised the existing model of authority. Mass migration and the strict policing of borders has highlighted the lands we all stand on; whose land is it and who gets to draw lines all over it, carving out territories that some people can cross in to but not others? More people now have a deeper understanding of ancestral trauma, or at least the term is rolling around looking for its place to land. As corruption rolls over and exposes its underbelly we are left with no choice but to speak truth to power. As borders shift and economies follow, we’re asked what is it we’ve really invested our security into? Failing to acknowledged the Earth as a living, breathing organism has divorced us from having a co-creative relationship it, resulting in unimaginable devastation.

This Full Moon in Cancer is calling us home. It’s highlighting what needs to be let go of while simultaneously drawing us toward our potential. Cancer wants us to come home to planet earth, home to our bodies and personal sovereignty, home to understanding our own ancestry and the lineage of the lands we occupy. We’re being pulled – tugged at from the inside and out – to find this balance.

Capricorn represents that which we’re releasing. As an earth sign it highlights our use and relationship with resources: oil, water, crop, division & ownership, bodies, money. Its governance over large functioning systems highlights just how long we’ve been living under the  oppressive rule of patriarchy, capitalism, white supremacy, heteronormativity, and how we’re simultaneously losing the voice of our elders. Capricorn is a cold, dry earth sign, and the cracks are showing. Without Cancer to balance it, Capricorn is in perpetual drought.

Astrology embraces opposites as part of the whole. Nothing is rejected. Capricorn, without its polar opposite Cancer, knows only how to use and control functional parts. Emotions are hailed as weak, uncontrollable and inferior. Most people can recall a time they felt like they had to bury their emotions to go to work. Capricorn steering the capitalistic ship fails to acknowledge that people are not robots, that Indigenous people have ongoing relationships to land, and that women and trans people have bodies that exist outside the law. Cancer reminds us that emotions hold up signposts for things that aren’t working. They lead us toward a more balanced, harmonious existence.

Cancer Full Moon Eclipse, January 10, 2020

Water is not as direct as Earth. It’s pervasive, moving through the cracks and slowly shifting things from the inside out.  There’s nothing useless about small steps. There’s no weakness is stopping, acknowledging the ways in which we’ve contributed to this narrative and choosing a different path forward. We’re all welcome home, but what we’re coming home to depends on the choices we make.

Anyone wanting to understand where the energies are occurring in your own chart, I’m offering a Year Ahead reading, drawing up a month by month personalised map.

Saturn and Pluto don’t know how to chill

If it’s feeling intense right now, it means you’re listening. But you’re also not alone.

If there was only one major transit this year ~ the Saturn Pluto conjunction occurring in January ~ we could say that the start of the year is intense but after it passes you can breathe out and get back to your life. Without wanting to play on already existing fears, it’s important we shift our view from a minor obstacle we can work through – to understanding that January is a precursor for what this year, and the future, holds. Collectively we’ve created an apocalyptic narrative that begins and ends, not one that we have to endure, slowly.

The current systems of power we’re governed by have been reigning supreme for longer than any of us have been alive. They’re not going down without a fight, which is why we’re seeing extreme responses of control, fear mongering and defence, both globally as well as personally.

If Capricorn is good at anything it’s the long-haul. Take stock of where you’re feeling vulnerable, what is potentially threatening your pocket of security in the world, and who and what holds deepest value to you. Solidarity and community connections will be our life blood when these power structures buckle under pressure.

Jupiter in Capricorn rebirths Yoda

There’s been an influx of Yoda memes ever since Jupiter moved into Capricorn, not surprising, really . Yoda is the perfect archetype to show up since we now have 4 planets & a node all getting down to business in Cap…& further shows that you don’t have to ‘believe’ in astrology to be influenced by it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Saturn, Capricorn’s daddy, represents wisdom & ageing, maturation & growth, & the responsibility weaved within the journey. It stands for nothing less than dedication & hard work…all of which take time. Time. It’s our elder, Saturn, whose been there a million times before reminding us as we transition into a new paradigm that you can’t hurry a good thing.

Being the boundary line of our known world it’s faaaaaar out in the solar system, and often the rewards come from time alone, pushing the limits we’ve imposed on ourselves & shedding the aspects of self we’ve outgrown.

Channel your inner Yoda through the upcoming eclipse season, aiming for any difficulties to be transformed to wisdom you can share with others on the path. I like to read stories about people on their death bed, what they regretted & what they cherish, to get clear with Saturn

Moon landing eclipse~aversary

Image of Earth from Space – source NASA

50 years ago today we (speculatively) sent 3 humans to the Moon. Wether you ‘believe’ it happened or not, something significant unfolded: we saw ourselves for the 1st time from a distance, living on a rock hanging in space. It’s impossible for human consciousness to not shift fundamentally from this point onward. #whatisthemeaningoflife

It’s interesting that this 50th anniversary occurs on a Lunar Eclipse! From the view of this image (taken by the Apollo 11 crew) the Moon is between the Earth & the Sun. These 3 celestial bodies that we rely on indefinitely ~ the Sun, the Moon & the Earth ~ all dance a dance, around & with each other, casting shadows, reflecting light & inspiring wonder. On & on.

I know a lot of folx are having hard things come up in this shadow time ~ ahoy to those who are riding high!

Eclipses stir the pot. They disturb the sediment. It has been an intense week/month/year #lezbereal .Eclipse season can bring up what we haven’t wanted to look at, distilling its poison, revealing the shadow.

Letting go occurs in so many ways & phases. It’s ok to wait for the light to return. It’s ok to have distance for perspective & detach from the stories. Remember that your feet are on the Earth & that staying grounded – or holding your ground – is part of finding your way.

On the road again; from my living room to yours!

Friends in far away places! 💫

Surprise! Surprise! I’m hitting the road again this Summer offering these Living Room Sessions in communities along the way. 🛤

These #astrology based sessions are hosted in living rooms & community spaces across the country. They’re designed to be accessible & affordable with the intention of bridging the gap between our individualistic world & our primal need for connection.

We’ll look at the astrology of the moment & how it’s being reflected in world events, as well as look at participants’ charts to see where it’s kicking up dust in your life.

Don’t bite the hook…

NOT TODAY! ⚔️

There’s an intensity in the air & frustrations can be heightened over nothing.

JUST BREATHE.

Channel that energy into some kind of constructive change or just leave it til tomorrow when the seas are calmer.

Sensitive freight

Sensetive freight

Life is just one continuous transition. There are no breaks & not one single destination. Even the ‘breaks’ are stations reorienting us from one point to the next…to the next…

There’s a lot of activity in the sky this week that can stir up lots of feels & frustrations. There’s also the desire to make sense of the most recent Mercury Retrograde cloud that passed through & hung heavy.

Being at the halfway point of this years Eclipse Seasons we have lights illuminating the road both back & forth. When / if the heavy feels land, take them as a sign post for things that are amidst transition ~ we need to create space for the new to come in by acknowledging & releasing the old.

Control is an illusion that keeps us in stuck states, so denying ourselves direct contact with our vulnerabilities & sensitivity can only create frustrating road blocks. There’s no hurry & nowhere to go!
