The Sun and Moon are both now in Sagittarius, galloping towards the total Solar Eclipse at 23* Sagittarius on the 14th. This isn’t your first rodeo, so how are you travelling out there?
Rate your eclipse season. Giddy Up!
The line of totality of this eclipse (the red line in the image below) will run across Argentina, Chile and vast amounts of the ocean. Guess who won’t be on a cruise ship this Sag Season to witness it? All of us!
You’ll be able to see a partial eclipse if you’re in South Africa, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador and Antarctica! Let’s see what kind of events come out of this part of the world in the coming months.
I’m a steady 3, 6, 7 right now; enjoying the ride, tired of the confines of quarantine, and totally at the whim of the Universe. How ‘bout you?
Traditionally, eclipses have been ominous signs. They remind us of how little control we have. No amount of prayer, ritual or intention can stop the Earth passing between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on our closest neighbour.
As the earth moves betwixt two opposing forces, we edge deeper into the dance that has been unfolding since November 2018 when the Nodes moved into Cancer / Capricorn. #cancercapricornclusterfuck
Since November 2018, we’ve seen a rise in Cancer / Capricorn themes: women in power have destabilised the existing model of authority. Mass migration and the strict policing of borders has highlighted the lands we all stand on; whose land is it and who gets to draw lines all over it, carving out territories that some people can cross in to but not others? More people now have a deeper understanding of ancestral trauma, or at least the term is rolling around looking for its place to land. As corruption rolls over and exposes its underbelly we are left with no choice but to speak truth to power. As borders shift and economies follow, we’re asked what is it we’ve really invested our security into? Failing to acknowledged the Earth as a living, breathing organism has divorced us from having a co-creative relationship it, resulting in unimaginable devastation.
This Full Moon in Cancer is calling us home. It’s highlighting what needs to be let go of while simultaneously drawing us toward our potential. Cancer wants us to come home to planet earth, home to our bodies and personal sovereignty, home to understanding our own ancestry and the lineage of the lands we occupy. We’re being pulled – tugged at from the inside and out – to find this balance.
Capricorn represents that which we’re releasing. As an earth sign it highlights our use and relationship with resources: oil, water, crop, division & ownership, bodies, money. Its governance over large functioning systems highlights just how long we’ve been living under the oppressive rule of patriarchy, capitalism, white supremacy, heteronormativity, and how we’re simultaneously losing the voice of our elders. Capricorn is a cold, dry earth sign, and the cracks are showing. Without Cancer to balance it, Capricorn is in perpetual drought.
Astrology embraces opposites as part of the whole. Nothing is rejected. Capricorn, without its polar opposite Cancer, knows only how to use and control functional parts. Emotions are hailed as weak, uncontrollable and inferior. Most people can recall a time they felt like they had to bury their emotions to go to work. Capricorn steering the capitalistic ship fails to acknowledge that people are not robots, that Indigenous people have ongoing relationships to land, and that women and trans people have bodies that exist outside the law. Cancer reminds us that emotions hold up signposts for things that aren’t working. They lead us toward a more balanced, harmonious existence.
Water is not as direct as Earth. It’s pervasive, moving through the cracks and slowly shifting things from the inside out. There’s nothing useless about small steps. There’s no weakness is stopping, acknowledging the ways in which we’ve contributed to this narrative and choosing a different path forward. We’re all welcome home, but what we’re coming home to depends on the choices we make.

These eclipses are stirring so much, from so deep. With Mercury coming to a blazing halt in Leo, preparing itself for a retrograde rendezvous (July 8-31), the air is thick & electric.
It’s a lot.
The gift amongst the chaos is in the messages, but the ‘answers’ we’ve become so accustomed to look for are not in the same shape we’re familiar with. So much has changed.
These eclipse #mercperks are nudging us toward realignment with who we are NOW. Not based in the past, not based in what once gave us security, based in what has been revealed to us about ourselves, about family, identity, ancestry & power.
It’s. A. Lot.
If you can ~ swim in the ocean, have a salt bath, scrub off dead skin, get a hair cut, throw out old clothes. Whatever wants to unshackle, let it go & offer space for the new to arise, again & again….
As if Solar Eclipses aren’t magical enough on their own!
This footage of a Solar Eclipse that occurred across North Carolina, USA on May 28, 1900 is the first known eclipse to be filmed. It has just been released to the public with some pretty auspicious timing.
A Solar Eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are in the same zodiacal sign and also occupy the same terrain in the sky as viewed from Earth. This particular eclipse occurred when both the Sun and Moon were in Gemini which happens to be the exact same New Moon that is occurring as it’s re-released!
While Astrology and Astronomy were once synonymous, many in the science fields today attempt to maintain distance from Astrology, yet this film has been held in The Royal Astronomical Society’s archive for 119 years and they no doubt did not intend to time its release to impress astrologers! So, what brought it out?
Filmed by magician Nevil Maskelyne and reworked by the British Film Institute, it’s an amazing view back in time. Watching an old eclipse is like looking at photos of our great-great-grandparents. Every eclipse is part of a larger cycle, or family, that produces an eclipse every 18 years. These families, like yours, have certain traits and characteristics that re-emerge with each eclipse until the family fades out some 1300 years later. That’s a lot of generations carrying one continuous thread.
In her work on these eclipse families, called Saros Cycles, Bernadette Brady says of this particular eclipse:
May 28, 1900: 10 South at 7* Gemini
This Saros Series concerns itself with breaking out of a very negative situation where no hope can be seen to a more positive space containing many options. A worry that may have been affecting a person will suddenly clear. The solution is shown by the Cosmos and needs to be taken up without too much delay. ~ The Eagle and the Lark, p323
There are various points of connection with this films release that pose many questions, principally “Why now?” If each eclipse family has a particular energy and message why, when the state of the world is pretty dire, are we again witnessing this eclipse? What brought this Gemini New Moon back into our consciousness 119 years later on yet another Gemini New Moon?
It’s possible to google the Great American Eclipse and view it from hundreds of viewpoints, but film was only emerging in the 1890’s, and if Nevil was alive today he’d likely be taking refuge in an embassy in London for his public service hacking: He was a public detractor of Guglielmo Marconi in the early days of radio (wireless). In 1903 he hacked into Marconi’s demonstration of wireless telegraphy, and broadcast his own message, hoping to make Marconi’s claims of “secure and private communication” appear foolish. ~ Wikipedia
Not only is this amazing to watch but the synchronicity of its release date coupled with the theme of the eclipse family and Nevil’s trickster ways are timely in this Gemini Season.
Driving into the heart of this continent is nothing short of Epic. A 5 day drive that my Sagittarian feet would far prefer to walk, but are not genetically designed to do, took us from the waves lapping at the ocean shore to the fossilised rock that is the ancient sea bed. I love the desert for so many reasons; the silence, the expanse, the space, the lack of distraction that initiates an acute awareness, the lack of water simultaneously present with its tangible memory. It’s impossible to hide from yourself because you are constantly reflected everywhere.
Uluru holds great cultural & spiritual significance to the Anangu people. It extends some 6000m below ground & towers 343m above us. It’s truly immense, awe inspiring & it feels like a giant crystal pulsating magnificence. I’m so deeply grateful to be here.
We arrived at the heart of this continent on the Leo Full Moon, the sign that rules the heart, on an eclipse that acts as a bridge. The Full Moon is technically in Leo, but eclipses are defined by the Nodes of the Moon, & those Nodes are well & truly dancing along the Cancer / Capricorn axis.
This bridge is an important one. As we hurtle along into 2019, we’re building toward a critical time that will peak in 2020. The unfolding that occurs will redefine how we understand security, home, connection & the ongoing impacts of our capitalistic cis-het-patriarchal white supremist ways. This final eclipse in Leo is a reminder to sink deeper into our hearts, to not indulge the mind & fear as much as we can compassion & renegotiation.
This intensity that buiilding has me moving deeper into silence & listening. I hope for you all through this #fullmoon that you don’t deny your uniqueness, that it leads you deeper into your heart & that you carry this energy with you through the challenges that lie ahead.
The waves that are lapping at our feet right now carry the energy of the eclipse undertow. There’s a purging occurring from the inside out. There are no “little things” this week, they’re pointers to the larger issues lurking below the surface. Don’t look away, & don’t be fooled into thinking you need to control it all.
I know a lot of folks who are sick right now, or tired & depleted. Old energy is resurfacing, exposed into the conscious light of day to be purged. The eclipse this week was wedged between boss lady Saturn & break-down-to-break-through Pluto; we have to release before we can rebuild.
Take note of what you’re being drawn toward, & what you’re being challenged to leave behind – no matter how subtle. When the internet breaks & there’s no external validation…when the poles actually do shift & all you’ve got is what you’ve developed in yourself – what are THOSE things? What are you here to contribute?
We’re deepening our relationship to ourselves so that we inturn show up more authentically in the world. Project yourself forward & ask yourself what you wish you had done & see if it’s on your current to-do list. No connection or circumstance is random. Who you are & what you do now is part of an intricate web system that wants to support you; be conscious of the choices you make now because those seeds will grow.
Look around to see what is dead or dying. The Venus Retrograde cycle is no joke, and Scorpio does not suffer fools.
The Venus Rx cycle is a 40 day – 40 night dark night of the soul journey. It’s a fasting and a detox of our values, our relationships, the people and places we’ve poured our love and money and support into…and the stench of death and decay is wafting through.
What once brought us joy, vitality and purpose may now be a shell of its former self. We may also find, if we care to have that honest, penetrating look at ourselves, that we’ve outgrown parts of ourselves and moved on, but the situation remains; the vase is still holding up the dead flowers, but no amount of water is going to breathe life back into them.
Encompassed in this current Rx cycle is Neptune at the midpoint of its journey through Pisces, and Uranus at the midpoint of the Nodes. Midpoints are a peak of energy where we can look both back and forth; familiar enough with the energy at this stage that we know the pattern, but also aware that maturity beckons in our choices.
The final eclipse in the Leo~ Aquarius trilogy is just whispering by us & the seeds for change & rebirth are ours to release.
Holding this energy close, sitting in our own 💩 & trying to work out which way is forward with SIX PLANETS retrograde can feel like a lot if yr trying.
The 🌞 Leo Sun is not at the centre of the solar system TRYING to shine, it’s blazing from the core of its being, wherever it’s at.
What have you learnt about being more authentically YOU since that big eclipse last September? How can you come at life straight from the heart with fierce compassion…wherever you’re at? 💖⚔️💎
The next set of eclipses will feel completely different, so dream those dreams & set those intentions now because they will be the shoes you step into & walk through the tests of Saturn in.
The energy we’re experiencing is of release, and it’s coming through the filter of Aquarius.
Aquarius is symbolized by the water bearer – it’s not THE WATER itself. The deep waters of emotion are not the easiest of landscapes for Aquarius to traverse. It’s an air sign; it stays one step outside the emotional realm though it wants to talk about it, think about it, connect because of it, but emotions come in the water bearer’s vessel – one step detached from the personal.
This releasing is personal. It’s not about anyone else, it’s about YOU. What do you need to release? What emotions do you have stored in your vessel from past hurts, experiences and lost dreams that you continue to bring into the present?
It’s an easy go-to to think about cutting chords with the toxic ex, the manipulative boss, people in the world that don’t support you – but the challenge is to ask ourselves: how do I contribute to my life being as it is? What have I poured my emotional energy into, and what am I getting out of it?
Projection is a hamster wheel. We can harness this extremely frustrating, but powerful, energy right now and release old patterns, opening the way for more sincere emotional connections, with ourselves and others.
Mars is SO HOT right now in cool-cat Aquarius. TOO HOT TO HANDLE.
Pluto and Saturn are holding space for our grief over in Capricorn. LET IT OUT.
Uranus is challenging us to align with what we value now – because times have changed and so have we!!! LET IT GO.
Neptune is confusing the fuck out of everything making us think that the answers are in an IG post – endlessly searching, scrolling for an out. ENQUIRE WITHIN.
It’s an interesting mix to say the least.
It’s intense because the damn walls are breaking. The Water Bearer’s vessel is broken open and we have to deal with what we’ve been carrying around. Water needs an external source to give it shape and definition and without addressing what’s really going on, this water damage can seep into every aspect of our lives. Aquarius wants to detach and stand back, but we need to step in to step up.
