Pisces Season: the path of least resistance

It’s Pisces Season & Mercury is STILL retrograde! Do you feel like it’s been Rx for a while now…like forever…or at least since that Gemini Full Moon back in December?

Pisces loves the deep dive. The waters of emotion stir & we remember what gives us meaning, what moves us & what connects us. As our life-giving Sun edges closer & closer toward Neptune we’re made increasingly aware of the clash between our ideals, our dreams & visions ~ & the cold hard reality being dished up by the clusterfuck over in Capricorn.

We’re dealing with an invisible virus, injunctions & arrests are blurring the lines between sovereign territory & state legislation, a waaaay too long US Presidential election campaign blows in hope one day & defeat the next & Australia is running out of toilet paper…while we’re all trying to catch up with the grief we’re carting around day to day.

Thankfully, there’s a steady groove that can be found between Pisces & Capricorn along the path of least resistance.

Capricorn sets the goal posts, highlighting where reform needs to occur, which behaviours & habits & power structures we’ve outgrown… while Pisces urges us to ride the pressure of that rising wave to steer us forward. You can’t push shit up a hill, so wherever the momentum is coming from use it to guide you toward your ideal reality & watch for signposts for where change & growth need to occur.

We’re in this for the long haul. Utilise Mercury Retrograde to help you gauge when it’s time for a break & recuperation.

Mercury Rx activates the ties that bind Boomers, Millennials and GenX.

The ties that bind Millennials to Boomers

Mercury retrograde is a phenomenon that occurs approximately 3 times per year, every year. Having gained recent popularity due to a surge of interest in spirituality amongst Millennials, it is technically not classified as a “big hitter” in astrology. This most recent retrograde however, was more than just the brilliant eclipse across the Sun. It stirred the generational pot, activating unconscious ties between Boomers, Gen X and Millennials. It triggered both their similarities and disparities, prompting an already existing aggravation into mass protest across the globe, and a surge of memes, articles and analysis online.

CAZIMI

November 11 marks the midway point of this Mercury retrograde in Scorpio cycle.

Today the Sun, the great illuminator, takes Mercury under its wing and protects it. Shielded by blazing light, all of Mercury’s qualities, all of the back tracking and digging, all that has been unearthed in the first part of this Retrograde cycle pause for a moments grace. This day holds the potential for razor sharp clarity, if only fleeting. From this point onwards Mercury is moving away from the Sun toward the deepest degree of the retrograde cycle where it will stop and move forward again. We have 9 days remaining to clear up, realign and sort out what Mercury has brought our attention to.

Mercury Rx in Scorpio Horoscopes

Each of us has Mercury kicking up dust somewhere in our charts. Whatever house Mercury is currently passing through will indicate where our attention is being drawn and what issues we’re being dragged down into the Underworld to deal with. This is not the only cycle coming to an end, and it’s not the only way in which we’re being asked to let go. But like any detailed work that needs to get done, it will sit there glaring at us until we do it.

Mercury Rx Scorpio Detox

Mercury Retrograde cycles coincide with large numbers of people going offline for a short term reset-detox. It makes sense considering Mercury is the messenger of the cosmos, retrograde periods call us to review, revisit, reset and technology pervades most aspects of daily life.

October 30th, 2019 Mercury digs in its heels and stations at the 28th degree of Scorpio, or the 238th degree of the Zodiac. It will retrograde back to the 12th degree of Scorpio on November 19th. That’s 20 days for you to detox, to call back your inspiration, assess any unhealthy patterns and reset boundaries. The Phoenix you choose to rise as depends on how deep you want to go. It’s your call and you are your only judge.

For the duration of this Mercury Retrograde period I’ll be here offering Merc Perk detox tips, decoding the messages from the Cosmos and watching how the planetary configurations play out on the world stage. It’s a process of slowing down, being present, re-empowering ourselves and consciously composting what needs to be released.

I will continue to share updates throughout this Rx season . I hope you’ll join me on this journey into your own diamond mine reclaiming what has been lost and releasing what has expired.

Be like a tree and leaf!

After leaving San Francisco yesterday we headed for the Redwoods in Northern California. I chose this spot and this date purposefully knowing Mercury would be Rx, knowing that it’s Samhain and knowing I need to be in nature at this time of year, every year.

Standing at the foot of these literal giants I fell silent; there’s nothing that could be said to enhance the moment and words would only get in the way of listening. Impressed by how spongey the Earth is underfoot, able to hold up all 350 ft of solid tree, I take in more of the surroundings as the forest begins to open up. Lying horizontal are several giants. No longer upright, yet no less participating, present and necessary. No less breathtaking.

The Avenue of the Giants, California. Oct 31, 2019

I’m reminded of The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. In it he describes the importance of dead trees to the ongoing sustainability of a forest. No longer vertical, trees still share energy and nutrients with each other, operating much like a family reliant on one another for survival.

Scorpio has in recent history become associated with death and transformation, due mainly to its also modern association with Pluto. But the natural progression of life’s cycle at this time of year does reflect this nocturnal, dying off and transforming phase (in the Northern Hemisphere where Western Astrology originated). Once Libra sets us straight with equal parts day and night, Scorpio Season alerts us to the irreversible descent from Autumn into the cold, dark depths of Winter. The reality of hibernation and retreat is undeniable.

If you can picture yourself as a tree, heavy with golden-red leaves, branches stretching wide having held nests, birds, moss and sunlight, with roots steadfast and deep as the branches rise…..what does this encroaching Winter hold for you? Will you drop a branch or two as the weight of an old story becomes too much to carry forth? How will the leaves that you have grown nourish you as they fall to your feet? How well has your bark protected you in the form of setting and upholding boundaries? Will you do next year differently, wishing you’d been clearer about how much energy you put out, or who you offered shade and shelter to, who you wish had found sanctuary in your forest? What will you mourn and what will you rejoice in the inevitable loss of?

Taurus New Moon

Pink Salt Lake on Jardwadjali land

TAURUS NEW MOON 🌙🌸🐂

Taurus is fertile; it fundamentally understands growth, longevity and the dedication it requires to yield results.

As the Sun consumes the light of the Moon it signals the completion of one cycle & the initiation of another. Guided inward, our attention is drawn toward that which asks for rearrangement. Like the Moon we renew, reimagine & recreate ourselves.

Like our birth chart, a New Moon is a first breath, a point of initiation that has a youthful growth phase (waxing), a peak adult phase (full), a declining ageing phase (waning) & a release, death (balsamic). As children we often get clear insight into our potential. It’s not uncommon for people to “know what they want to be when they grow up”, to understand their gender identity & sense of self all before the age of 4. It’s also not uncommon for these seeds to be squashed & derailed by outside forces.

New Moons hold this creative potential. We can have the vision but we also need to focus & not abandon ourselves so that our seeds can blossom.
This New Moon is occurring in Taurus, a sign that is more than happy to plan out the direction of a seeds growth. However, currently Uranus is having a 7 year sleepover in Taurus & our Queen Venus is in sparky Aries: the seeds we plant now have a fire under their ass! Don’t even try to recreate old patterns under this Moon!

These Taurus new moon seeds will sprout in Scorpio Season where the lay of the land is deep & uncompromising. Give yourself a get outta jail free card on this New Moon & dare to dream your potential into being. Life itself is creativity so why not plant seeds that grow you out of a stuck state, old patterns & limiting beliefs?

Don’t abandon your dreams with this one & don’t suffocate yourself with what appears to be a security blanket.

Melbourne, I love you!

Melbourne❣️
I love how you wear your heart on your red brick sleeve
It’s definitely hard to say goodbye today, but it lets me know how I feel about this land & the people who have made this hometown visit what it was.

Leaving is 💔😢 & while endings are a natural part of life, Social Media has changed our relationship to goodbyes & grief. We may say goodbye, but we see each other tomorrow when we post photos of our ongoing lives: always here.

Home, too, is often a complex topic with colonisation, borders & immigration policies adding further complexity; eternal thanks to the Bunurong people whose land I grew up on & whose land continues to be occupied. Melbourne, you have my heart. See ya when I’m lookin’ at ya! 😎✌🏼

Neptune v’s Capitalism

Video footage by Nolan Omura

Resistance is futile, enjoy the ride.

This recent Mercury Rx cycle ended with the messenger snuggled up to mystical, nebulous Neptune. If retrograde times themselves aren’t enough to throw us off, sealing the deal with Neptune only intensified this.

The effects continuing this week have left many of us feeling cloudy & indecisive while lacking vitality & clear direction. Sound familiar? 🤔

It’s these moments, these potent astrological signatures, that are clear cosmic reminders that Capitalism is man-made & intrusive on our natural rhythms. The desire to achieve, to strive for survival is innate, but aligning our worth with ‘success’ & ‘progress’ is not. Why is it so hard to rest & DO nothing? How much did you push against this tide, only to feel more confused & dissatisfied? When we DO nothing, the only thing we can ‘do’ is just be. It’s in these precious moments that we can truly hear the messages.

If we lived in a society where we were encouraged to make our life’s work something we’re good at or enjoy, the very fabric of society would be different. We would ‘work’ because we enjoy it, because it’s fulfilling, because we’re contributing. We would ‘work’ to our abilities, not a stock standard that exhausts us & pits us against each other. We wouldn’t have to stop & create time to check in, we’d be an expression of the rhythm of life itself. The indoctrination that we need to work to eat, to survive, to feel worthy are the sharp teeth of capitalism that eat away at our vitality & take us away from what we’re here to share.

We’re not out of this shadow phase until April 17, so these learnings are still being filtered through. With Saturn & Pluto as watchdogs over the south node traveling through Capricorn, we’re shedding more than the ideologies of capitalism. We have to address our own fears, our own beliefs & support of systems that uphold the things that inevitably hurt us.

Neptune allows us to view the ideal, to quest back to source. While it might not change overnight, each choice we make alters the entire vibration of the Universe. How’s THAT for personal responsibility?

Eclipse undertow

screen shot 2019-01-11 at 4.33.55 pm

The waves that are lapping at our feet right now carry the energy of the eclipse undertow. There’s a purging occurring from the inside out. There are no “little things” this week, they’re pointers to the larger issues lurking below the surface. Don’t look away, & don’t be fooled into thinking you need to control it all.

I know a lot of folks who are sick right now, or tired & depleted. Old energy is resurfacing, exposed into the conscious light of day to be purged. The eclipse this week was wedged between boss lady Saturn & break-down-to-break-through Pluto; we have to release before we can rebuild.

Take note of what you’re being drawn toward, & what you’re being challenged to leave behind – no matter how subtle. When the internet breaks & there’s no external validation…when the poles actually do shift & all you’ve got is what you’ve developed in yourself – what are THOSE things? What are you here to contribute?

We’re deepening our relationship to ourselves so that we inturn show up more authentically in the world. Project yourself forward & ask yourself what you wish you had done & see if it’s on your current to-do list. No connection or circumstance is random. Who you are & what you do now is part of an intricate web system that wants to support you; be conscious of the choices you make now because those seeds will grow.
